Quick meditation

I just stepped in from outside and sering as how I have class in an hour and a chapter to read for it I'll make this brief.

I was just outside and I sat down to meditate and enjoy the precious warmth from the sun. As I was sitting I was repeating a line from a hymn written by Handel, "The Lord is in His holy temple" over and over again. I had sung it as a child in choir but now I was beginning to reflect on the fact that sung by a professional choir, you often get a grandiose vision on the Lord in his temple, whether the splendor of the ancient temple in Jerusalem or the soaring arches of Cathedrals and the architectural awe of various houses of God. Definitely a hymn that uplifts the Lord, however, a thought occurred to me, "Aren't I the temple as well?"
As Paul said, our bodies are now temples as well, and one remembers Jesus' prophetic message of the destruction and rebuilding of the temple in reference to himself. I was wondering if Jesus inside me was enjoying the soothing warmth of the sun, tempered by the occasional cold breeze as I was. Not to denigrate him, or bring low the Lord when we are to lift him high, but just to remember that He really is always with us.
That thought in mind I looked down at my feet at the grass and various plants. Such an easy metaphor for us as Christians, we are like plants that rely solely on a light that gives us light. Yet, we cannot perceive the glorious splendor of the sun (if we were grass) nor could we fully understand it or what it is doing in us, all we know is that we need it. Thankfully we were created a little lower than the angels yet much higher than plants. Can you imagine explaining to a plant (as if the idea of talking to one wasn't too odd) the process of photosynthesis, the amount of time it takes light from the sun to reach it, what the sun is exactly, the life that the plant gives to the entire world just by transferring its energy to the very things that consume it, the cycle of life that is dependent as much upon it as it is dependent upon the sun.
Thankfully we have more insight into the very nature of God, but that should not lessen our awe at how much we are dependent upon him, and conversely, how much the world is dependent upon us.
Okay, third and final thought I had. Looking on the ground, you see the grass trying to grow, tring to get that light, but it is impeded by the shadow that the dead leaf is making upon it. However, if not totally blocked off from light, that grass will continue to grow and be sustained, and one day that leaf will finally disintegrate and become food for that grass. That which almost killed it will help feed it.
I was struck by how this reminded me of our struggles with suffering as Christians. We like the grass, sometime get blocked off from God by the dead leaves of sin and suffering, they are pretty much all that is on our horizon, all that we can see. However, even the slightest bit of light coming in can sustain us, and when that trial and tribulation is finally overcome, we can use the memories of that time to help us remember that God is faithful and that we really are more than conquerors through him. Ach, okay, I actually should start reading for class, ttyl and have a blessed day!

The analogy of the dead leaf blocking much of the light of the sun is really great! Especially how you described how it will one day disintegrate and actually become food for the very thing it was hindering. How poignant an exhortation to persevere in our faith! I think this image is perfect for describing the state of the men on this campus in this moment. We are blocked at the moment but when this thing which is an iron cap on our souls is finally completely, 100% removed it will actually build our faith in a way nothing else can. Just as violence only begets more violence, victory has no choice but to beget more victory as faith is built within. I like the idea of quick little "microblogs" on this site. Hope your leaves disintegrate and fertilize the good soil of your heart!
